What is the origin of Kumbh Mela?

The story of origin of Kumbh Once upon a time, demons and demons attacked the gods with a huge army. In that war, the deities were defeated in front of the demons, then all the deities like Indra went in front of Agni and took shelter of Brahmaji. There he narrated his entire condition accurately.

Brahmaji said- 'You people go with me in the shelter of God.' Saying this, he took all the deities along with him to the north bank of Kshirsagar and addressed Lord Vasudev (Krishna) and said - 'Vishno! Get up early and do good to these gods. Due to not getting your help, the demons defeat them again and again.'

On his saying so, Lord Antaryami Purushottam, who had eyes like lotus, seeing the condition of the bodies of the deities, said- 'Devgan! I will increase your sharpness. You people do the remedy that I tell you. Together with the demons, bring all kinds of medicines and put them in the ocean of milk.

Then churning the ocean by making Mandarachal the churner and Vasuki the serpent as the neti (rope), extract nectar from it. I will help you in this task. You will become strong and immortal by drinking the nectar that comes out after churning the ocean.'

At the behest of Lord Devadhidev, all the deities entered into an agreement with the demons to extract the nectar - after that the deities and the demons churned in Kshirodasindhu near the Himalayas in the northern part of the earth, in which Mandaranchal was 'Manthan dand', Vasuki was 'Neti'.

Were, Tortoise form was the face of Lord Mandaranchaland Lord Vishnu was holding the said churning-rod, then fourteen gems from that Kshirsagar - Lakshmi, Kaustubh, Parijat, Sura, Dhanvantari, Chandrama, Garal, Pushpak, Airavat, Panchjanya conch, Rambha, Kamdhenu, Uchhai: Shrava and Amrit-Kumbh came out.

As soon as Amrit-Kumbh emerged from those jewels, by the behest of the gods, Kumbh-Indra's son 'Jayant' flew in the sky with the nectar-Kalash. After that, as per the orders of Daityaguru Shukracharya, the demons chased Jayant to take back the nectar and after a lot of hard work, they caught Jayant in the middle of the way. After that, there was a continuous war between the gods and demons for 12 days to get the right over the pot of nectar.

During this fight with each other, the urn had fallen on four places of the earth (Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjain, Nasik), at that time the moon had emanated from the ghat, the sun had caused the ghat to burst, the guru had abducted the demons and Shani protected Ghat from the fear of Devendra. To calm the discord, God took the form of Mohini and distributed nectar to everyone who had the right to drink it. In this way the war between the gods and demons was ended.

Why is Kumbh Mela considered as the most auspicious period of India

Kumbh Mela is considered to be the most auspicious time of India because since ancient times, in our great Indian culture, great respect and devotion towards pilgrimages and the special festivals held in them exist.

In Indian culture, any holy festival, religious act, rites, rituals and holy ceremonies and festivals etc. are not organized for mere performance, self-satisfaction or entertainment etc., but often the main objective of such religious and cultural events is self-purification and self-welfare.

Similarly, in the organization of religious rituals or festivals, not only the compliance of the tradition, but also the good effort to carry out the dignified method of the ancient Indian (Vedic) culture approved by the scriptures.

Inspired by the auspicious spirit of Moksha-desire and public-welfare by Tatvvetta Rishis in ancient times, on the banks of rivers like Ganga and holy places like Prayag, Haridwar etc., religious discussion and Bhagwat-Leela-Shravan are the events of our spiritual tradition, on the other hand  And also inspirational for the present world.

The meeting of Rishi-Maharishi, sage-saint and scholar-people was the purpose of discussion on the worldly and otherworldly system of the nation.  Due to this, the society used to get new consciousness and the supremacy of religious importance was also established over the country-time and environment.  Thus the disintegration of the Indian society was prevented by this system.

At the same time it was a healthy system of organization and dissemination of good thoughts.  This helped in creating an atmosphere of intimacy and religious harmony and in realizing the concept of social coordination and united nation. Many important mantras are found in the Vedas regarding Kumbh festival, which proves that Kumbh festival is very ancient and Vedic religion is full of.
