Morya Gosavi is a great Ganpati devotee of the 14th century whose faith reached the Peshwas of that era and they also came to bow their heads at the feet of Morya Gosavi. The Morya Gosavi Samadhi Temple built in his name is today the center of faith of crores of devotees.

This temple was established by Morya Gosavi himself in Chinchwad, about 18 kilometers from Pune.  The story of the construction of this temple is very interesting. Due to his old age, he started facing a lot of difficulty in reaching Mayureshwar temple.  While walking through the forest on the way, he had to face many difficulties.

Exactly what Morya Gosavi ji had seen in his dream happened.  When Morya Gosavi came out of the pond after taking bath, he had a small idol of Mayureshwar Ganapati in his hands.  He came to Chinchwad with the same idol, installed it here and started worshipping. Since then, the popularity of Chinchwad temple gradually spread far and wide.

For the devotees, Ganapati and Morya had now become one and the same. Chinchwad village, situated 15 kilometers away from Pune city, is famous by the name of Morya Gosavi.

Morya Gosavi Temple is considered the pride of this village.  By becoming the biggest devotee of Ganesha, Morya Gosavi got the boon of Ganesha and achieved Siddhi by linking his name with the name of Ganesha forever.

This is the reason that in Chinchwad villages, when people meet each other, they do not say Namaste but say Morya. In 1375, Morya Gosavi was also born with the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
